DOT Alcohol Testing Requirements
DOT-regulated employers must conduct alcohol testing using approved Evidential Breath Testing (EBT) devices operated by certified Breath Alcohol Technicians (BATs).
0.02 - 0.039 BAC
Employee removed from safety-sensitive duties for 24 hours
0.04 BAC or Higher
Positive result - employee must complete SAP evaluation and return-to-duty process
Confirmation Testing
All positive screening results confirmed with a second EBT test

EtG/EtS Testing for Zero-Tolerance Programs
Ethyl Glucuronide (EtG) and Ethyl Sulfate (EtS) testing provides an extended detection window for alcohol consumption, ideal for treatment programs and zero-tolerance policies.
